HEALING GOLDEN MILK
with turmeric and ginger
ANOTHER recipe with turmeric, Sixtine, REALLY??
When I was 17 my mum had just discovered her passion for turmeric and she would put it on everything. At first I thought it looked so pretty: everything yellow, wow.
Then, after a few weeks of turmeric MADNESS, my dad and I had to have an intervention to stop the obsession. After those few weeks I could not stand the slightest taste or smell of turmeric, certain of the fact that I had suffered from a curcuma overdose.
Little did I know my mum was actually way ahead of the massive turmeric trend that's going on right now (my mum is way ahead of almost every health trend to be fair).
Seriously though, I eat turmeric almost every day now.
Especially when I'm going through a rough patch with my gut. Turmeric, or curcuma as we say here, has so many health benefits I really have to actively force myself NOT to add it to everyting.
It has great anti-inflamatory properties which helps to calm the inflamation in your gut during an IBS 'crisis'. Next to that it also helps to boost your immune system, reduces infections, diminishes fever and so much more.
So naturally, this is a go-to beverage for me every time I have trouble with my gut.

INGREDIENTS:
- 2/3 of a cup of oatmilk
- 1/3 of a cup of water
- half a teaspoon of curcuma
- half a teaspoon of cinnamon
- a good pinch of cardamom
- half a teaspoon of ginger
- a tiny pinch of black pepper (to enhance the healing properties of turmeric)
- 2 cloves
optional: maple syrup
Heat the milk and the water in a pan, add all the spices and let it simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes. Remember to take out the cloves and drink up!
I use ground ginger and turmeric for this, but if you have a strong blender you may want to use the fresh roots as it enhances the deep taste of the spices.
